Eat to fight Anxiety & Depression

This may seem a little paradoxical to eat to fight depression as many time in the depression you can be in total shut down and not want to eat.

But I really can see some truths and good guidance in this article by Quentin Vennie on the MindBodyGreen website magazine.  His article is written from his experience with anxiety and depression and is entitled

"How I eat to manage my anxiety"
As a wellness coach working primarily with people suffering with anxiety, I always encourage my clients to assess their diet. Here’s a typical day of what eating looks like for me:
I like to start my day with about 16 to 24 ounces of fresh green juice before I eat anything. It’s a great way to give my body some much needed nutrients first thing in the morning.
I typically wait about 20 minutes after I’ve finished my juice before I sit down and eat. Most mornings I enjoy fresh berries with some cage-free, organic scrambled eggs.
This is a major useful tip for the lunch on how to use all senses for the effect on your mind and the release of serotonin - the uplifting feel well neurotransmitter in the brain.
I love to blend colors, so I tend to dress my salads with bright, colorful additions. With this salad in particular, I added some quinoa, fresh yellow and red peppers, unsweetened dried cranberries, and sunflower seeds. I topped it off with my homemade vinaigrette dressing (vinegar, fresh squeezed lemon juice, extra-virgin olive oil, salt, and pepper). In addition to quinoa being a complete protein, it also boosts levels of serotonin in the brain. It’s naturally gluten-free and also very filling. What I like most is that it’s a seed, not a grain, so it doesn’t have the inflammatory effects of other carbs, like wheat.
The use of blueberries is an all round therapy in a smoothie too.  you can read more on this article if you follow the link

Now how can we help with our Forever Living Products too - the whole range of products are for your well being and to feel and look good.  But I have looked at our Pomesteen Power with its blend of Pomegranate, Pear, Mangosteen, Raspberry, Blackberry, Blueberry and here is the low down on the whole value of this product for your well being.

Enjoy....with Forever Living Seasons...... and feel well.....and be well..

Pomesteen Power

There’s no disputing the fact that antioxidants are extremely vital to our health and well being. There is, however, much discussion today among nutritionists as to which fruit is the most powerful antioxidant, or which contains the most Xanthones or has the highest ORAC value rating.

Forever Pomesteen Power has them all with a proprietary blend of fruit juices and extracts, including Pomegranate, Pear, Mangosteen, Raspberry, Blackberry, Blueberry and nice Grape Seed.
ORAC value (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) is an indicator of how well an antioxidant inhibits free radical damage. The ORAC value of fruits can vary greatly, even when testing the same fruit at different times after harvesting.

What is important to know is that all of the ingredients of Forever Pomesteen Power are near the top of the list in ORAC value, especially Pomegranate and Mangosteen fruit.

Pomegranate juice has more polyphenol antioxidants than red wine, green tea, cranberry juice and orange juice. In addition, it is a good source of Vitamins A, C, E and the mineral Iron.
Mangosteen is a popular fruit in Asia. Its exquisite taste prompted Queen Victoria to declare it her favorite fruit, henceforth it has been referred to as the “Queen of Fruits!”Its ORAC value is very high, and it is rich in beneficial Xanthones. Xanthones are a family of naturally occurring nutritional compounds in fruits that are super-powerful antioxidants.

Here are a some independent links to look at what are free radials and why antioxidants are so important to prevent damage from free radicals and ensure health and well being.

Avocado

Avocado on toast
A great article by David Wolfe on the value of Avocado in our diet.   I love Avocado as it is so versatile... from simply spreading on toast like the picture with some pepper to milkshake.... My first experience of sweeten avocado milk shake was in Germany a flatmate used to make it for me.
Image result for avocado

So what is David saying in his article which you can find on this link..

http://www.davidwolfe.com/why-eat-avocados/?c=pwf&vp=fraw

Well is full of nutritional value..

You already know that avocados are good for us, but, what’s actually inside of it that makes it such a healthy treat. Well, for starters, there are typically over 14 minerals packed inside each one. Each avocado also contains:• 18 essential amino acids (protein) and 2 grams of protein per 100 grams of avocado.• Soluble fiber.• Phytosterols: beta-sitosterol, campesterol, and stigmasterol that may help keep arthritis and other forms of inflammation under control.• Carotenoids: Avocados contain an unusually high amount of antioxidant, oil-soluble carotenoids. These include o-carotene, yellow alpha-carotene and yellow lutein, but also many lesser-known carotenoids including yellow epsilon-carotene, yellow neochrome, yellow neoxanthin, yellow chrysanthemaxanthin, orange beta-cryptoxanthin, orange zeaxanthin, and yellow violaxanthin.• Chlorophyll: This is what gives avocados their beautiful green glow. Chlorophyll is a deodorizer, detoxifier, and neutralizer of toxins.• Polyhydroxylated fatty alcohols (PFAs): These are more widely prevalent in ocean plants but relatively unique among land plants—making the avocado tree (and its fruit) unusual in this regard. Like the avocado’s phytosterols, its PFAs also provide us with anti-inflammatory benefits and skin protection from ultraviolet radiation.• Vitamins: B (folic acid), C, E

Now what have we got in Forever Living Products with the benefits of Avocado

Well not something to eat or drink but a skincare treatment in the form of soap for face and body care.

Honey Bee Well

Found a good article for a run down on the benefits of Honey by
Joseph Nordqvist on Medical News Today

http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/264667.php
Honey is a sweet liquid made by bees using nectar from flowers. Bees first convert the nectar into honey by a process of regurgitation and evaporation, then store it as a primary food source in wax honeycombs inside the beehive. Honey can then be harvested from the hives for human consumption.Honey is graded by color, with the clear, golden amber honey often at a higher retail price than darker varieties. Honey flavor will vary based on the types of flower from which the nectar was harvested.
Both raw and pasteurized forms of honey are available. Raw honey is removed from the hive and bottled directly, and as such will contain trace amounts of yeast, wax and pollen. Consuming local raw honey is believed to help with seasonal allergies due to repeated exposure to the pollen in the area. Pasteurized honey has been heated and processed to remove impurities.
This MNT Knowledge Center article includes a brief history of honey in traditional medicine and explains some of its potential health benefits.
The history makes you aware that throughout all ages the value of honey has been recognised - Liquid Gold for a whole range of medicinal purposes both internally and externally.  It has been long known to help heal wounds and I personally have used it on patients wounds and my own too.

I have been reading about the value of honey in the Islamic Medicine - key to a better life by Yusuf Al-Hajj Ahamad.

Many religious books talk about the value of honey in the diet. When you look at the nutritional values you can see that the science is there.

And here is a link to food matters to look at the benefits of bee pollen in our diet.

http://foodmatters.tv/articles-1/10-amazing-health-benefits-of-bee-pollen

Bee Pollen is made by honeybees, and is the food of the young bee. It is considered one of nature's most completely nourishing foods as it contains nearly all nutrients required by humans. Bee-gathered pollens are rich in proteins (approximately 40% protein), free amino acids, vitamins, including B-complex, and folic acid.
Bee pollen is a complete food and contains many elements that products of animal origin do not possess. Bee pollen is richer in proteins than any animal source. It contains more amino acids than beef, eggs, or cheese of equal weight. About half of its protein is in the form of free amino acids that are ready to be used directly by the body.

Age or Forever Fit..?

Forever-Fit

Great article for those in Autumn Seasons of Life....

Forever Fit

 · Getting older doesn’t have to mean retiring from your favorite activities and sports.
Here’s your guide for staying fit for life.
THE FACTS OF AGING
Let’s face it: Time changes us, at least to some degree. And as you get older, some people will probably step forward to offer “helpful” advice on how you should adjust your fitness efforts — usually by warning you away from exercising so strenuously. Advancing age means you must slow down, they say.
The first thing aging fit people usually notice is that we don’t recover as quickly from our workouts and training sessions, or race as quickly, as we did just a few years earlier. We might also be feeling a loss of power. Hills seem steeper and we will probably see certain performance markers declining. This sort of decline is, to some real extent, inevitable; we just don’t know how rapidly it will occur.
THE VALUE OF EXERCISE
Exercise keeps you healthier and biologically “younger,” regardless of intensity. It’s powerful medicine when it comes to your health.
If your reason for exercising is to live a long life filled with vibrant family activity and fun for many years to come, then vigorous and frequent exercise of any type is the way to go.
